Individual Indian Money
One sign of the mistreatment Native Americans have suffered is the mishandling of Individual Indian Money. Native Americans are supposed to receive money for land they have leased to a government, resources they sold, and other various things. Recently it was made public that millions of dollars were unaccounted for and had been missing for decades. It is unknown whether the money was taken by the government or by thieves. A recent experiment showed that the government had little security protecting their funds.
Recently, the Native American Rights Fund went to court against the Department of Interior and the Department of Treasury for their mismanagement of the funds. This case is still going on today.
