Canopy Tour Bus A canopy tour is where a cable is stretched between two points, usually a revine. The rider is harnessed in and then dangles from the cable by a little wheel. The rider lets go and gravity sends them to the other side of the revine.

We caught the open air bus from Puerto Vallarta and travelled south to Los Veranos. The ride was really enjoyable. The wind kept us cool while we took in the jungle scenery.

Debbie and Amy chose to stay grounded at the base restaurant, while Wes, Andrew and Amber strapped on their harnesses for the ride. We learned how to stop (GOOD THING!) and what to do if we stopped before getting to the end of the line. Harness Up
Wes The first few rides were short, getting us comfortable with the gear. We would ride the line then walk uphill to the next take-off point. As the lines got longer and higher we would lose our bearing in the canyon. Wes is pictured to the left.

The ride would start in heavy jungle, the ground would fall away, sometimes where it was 400 feet below, then end back in heavy jungle. The cable allowed a smooth, fast tour of the jungle although the thrill of the speed kept us from enjoying the lush greenery around us. It was only when we were getting closer to the last few rides that we were able to see the restaurant where Debbie and Amy waited. The tour lasted a couple hours, totaled 13 runs, the longest almost 1/4 of mile, and ended with a line paralleling the river and landing at the restaurant. Amber
