| We knew we had a grocery store across the street from our resort and we soon found comfort in its aisles. Gigante is a grocery and discount store in one. We stocked up on groceries, the kids bought a blow-up tube, and we found sunburn lotion. We knew we looked like a bunch of tourists and when we were approached with offers of help we thought it was just a conscientious manager. Our first clue he wasn't was the fact that he was wandering the store, searching for items like we would have been. | ![]() |

We soon found us in the middle of a timeshare offer. Our polite, "no, gracias", usually had him moving on. Our last stop of the visit to Gigante was to the bakery. They had a huge variety of pastries, rolls, and muffins. We tried to make a different choice at each visit, bringing them home to accompany our morning drinks. |
| There was also a Pacifico / Corona outlet and a number of American and Mexican fast food restaurants within walking distance (Andrew is by a bunch of pizza delivery motorcycles.) As much as Wes didn't want to eat anything we could get back home, the fatigue and irritability of our arrival day caught up, so dinner was at El Burger King. | ![]() |

We timed our day to be near a vantage point of the sunsets. While it rained most days, the evening sky would clear, leaving us with a beautifully colored sky. |
| Wes wanted to capture one of our sunsets in a family photo. We set up a good location and waited for the sun. I was explaining to Amber, our photographer, how we'd like to frame the shot and she was doing quite a few test shots so when our moment was right we would be ready. I should explain the ocean was breaking just beyond our feet and we had a fair size audience during this process. The photo to the right is what we worked for... | ![]() |

... and the photo to the left is one of those test shots when a rogue wave broke just in front of us. We all got to our feet, except Debbie. She didn't quite make it to her feet when the water washed away our location. Our audience was quite amused at our expense. |
