Readers, please take one minute and log onto
water4fish.org
and send an email to your state and federal representatives.
. It only
takes one minute of your time to help change
the southerly course of our fisheries.
The State and Federal bureaucracies are moving ahead with
California water plans that do not consider the needs of
fish. Unless we speak up now, our fisheries will perish as part
of the plan. There are 2.4 million sport
fishermen in California. If we join together
we can bring about political change. 18,000 fishermen have
already signed the petition and sent letters but we need
50,000 just to be heard at the state level.
Please log on and
review their plan at

TAKES A MINUTE OR TWO!
With the salmon closure there have
been few reasons other than some late season shad
action for anglers to venture out on the American
river. That is until now. On Sunday 7-20 Alan
Fong s aid some large resident stripers to 40-pounds
have been caught and released on the American River
on top water lures, as they are chasing American
shad. One angler actually found a 40-pound striper
stuck on the rocks, as it was chasing shad and
miscalculated her position or perhaps she got too
greedy, and ended up in the rocks. He and another
angler were able to revive and release the fish
after a couple of complimentary pictures, of course.
The 2008 salmon season on the Sac will run from November
1st through December 31st with a limit of 1
fish from Knights Landing to Red Bluff. The
Feather and American rivers are closed to fishing
for the balance of the year. I'm
surprised that anglers got a token season
but this will protect the fall run fish and
still allow some limited opportunity for
late fall run fish this year.
