Russian Dropping In!
|

After two plus weeks of rain
and high water the Russian
it starting to look like it
will come back into play.
Here on Friday 3-6
the Russian is dropping into
shape on the upper section
but like the Eel and Trinity
the lower section is still
too high. The river at
Cloverdale is down to nearly
1400cfs and the creek mouths
should be starting to clear
up. The middle river at
Healdsburg is down to 3200
but even at the current rate
of drop doesn't look to fish
at Dry Creek until next
Monday or Tuesday. As I said
before the river is tougher
to "read" this year with the
ultra low flows being
released off Lake Mendocino.
That said I would bet that
plunkers will catch some
bright fish working the Dry
Creek section this weekend
and conditions on the middle
river will only improve
early next week.
The Gualala should drop into
great shape either Saturday
or Sunday and would be a top
bet for those who know how
and where to fish this
coastal jewel.
River Levels:

For river status (low flow closure) updates from Fish and Game please call +1.707.442.4502 for the North coast and +1.707.944.5533 for Central coast streams. Be sure to check out the
California Fish and Game regulations before you go. Regulations vary on every river and you need to pay attention to bait and hook restrictions. Due to winter closures on HWYs 5, 101 & 299 we recommend you check Caltrans road conditions
as well.
