Central
Valley Rivers:
On Saturday 10-31
Bob Bradbury of
Johnson's Bait in Yuba
City said there are
loads of small bass on
the Sacramento River
with a ratio of 15
undersized to one legal
fish.
There are some larger
stripers in the Feather
at Shanghai Bend hitting
top water lures or hair
raisers in low light
conditions. The
steelhead fishing about
Butte City is decent
with glo bugs or night
crawlers, as well as on
the low flow section of
the Feather for =BD
-pounders. Roe is not
effective due to the
lack of salmon spawning
in the rivers. Both the
Feather and Sacramento
are extremely low.
On Thursday 10-22
Bob Boucke of Johnson's
Bait in Yuba City said
the dirty water has
moved into the
Sacramento River, but
the river should be
clear by this weekend.
As a result, striper
fishing has taken a
reprieve, but the fish
should still be in the
system for a few weeks
before moving back down
to the Delta.
Steelhead fishing has
been solid on the
Feather River with night
crawlers,roe or glow
bugs from the Gridley
Bridge upriver to the
low flow section.There
have been good numbers
of salmon and a few
steelhead moving up the
fish ladder at the
Feather River Hatchery.
There are also a few
steelhead on the
Sacramento River with
Boucke hooking a pair of
metalheads to 4-pounds
while anchored over the
weekend. There is a
six-week salmon season
in the Sacramento River
beginning November 16th
through December 31st.
Boucke thought there
were a few more anglers
geared up for this
year's river seasonas
opposed to last year.
Waterfowl Limits
Liberalized
It's time to start
looking ahead to the
Central Valley waterfowl
season. Being an avid
"quack addict" I can't
wait for the duck season
to begin! The 2009 /10
waterfowl regs have just
being released and
California hunters will
see an increase in bag
limits for pintails to
two birds per day (about
time), canvasbacks are
back on the menu and
even goose limits could
be higher.
One of the best if not
"THE BEST" properties in
the Central Valley is
the Richmond Hunting
Club. The "RHC" is a not
for profit member owned
cooperative with over
18,000 acres of leased
and owned land in the
Colusa, Delevan and Sac
triangle angle. I have
been a member since 1997
and have enjoyed some of
my best waterfowl and
upland game hunting on
the RHC properties
during this time.
Family memberships are
just $500. per year and
all members have access
to not only all 18K
areas but four
clubhouses that have
bunkhouses, showers and
RV parking with full
hookups. Water blinds
(not open to general
members) are just $1700
making the RHC not only
one of the best but the
most affordable clubs in
the Valley. They have
been around for over 4
decades and being a not
for profit club is the
reason they can offer
their members such
affordable prices.
If you are interested in
a tour of the club,
available water blinds
other properties call 707

mention USAFishing to
save $50 on your first
year of membership.
